The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department of the Tamil Nadu government has ordered the temple administration controlled by it, to perform special pujas and yagnas for bringing rain across the state. "A secular government should not promote such practices for any matter. Instead, the government should explore scientific ways like rain harvesting to tackle the drought," says TR Govindarajan from Tamil Nadu Science Forum (TNSF).
