SBI Is Bleeding: Thomas Franco
Thomas Franco, former general secretary, All India Bank Officers' Confederation, says that the merger of the associate banks with the State Bank of India (SBI) has been unsuccessful. After the merger, SBI, in its history of over 200 years, has made losses for the first time, he adds. Even if there has been no entrenchment, the number of staff members and branches have been reduced. According to Franco, the government will be happy to privatise SBI first, in all probability.
