Is the Real Game in Indian Sport Being Played in Courtrooms and Not Stadiums?

Indian sports administrators, using the Covid-19 pandemic as a shield, appears to be trying to remain in power no matter what the cost.

From cricket to football, with everything in between, sports bodies in India are engaged in a wave of furious litigation; One that has hurt the country’s standing globally and caught thousands of athletes in its throes. Some of the concerns include failure to adhere to the National Sports Code and unconstitutional elections. The purpose, behind the shield of the Covid-19 pandemic, appears little more than the lust to remain in power no matter what the cost.

In this context two major sports bodies, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the All India Football Federation (AIFF) (which run cricket and football), have come into focus. Senior journalists Sharda Ugra, Jaydeep Basu and Leslie Xavier explain what exactly is going on and how the impact will be felt most by those who are supposed to be under the care of these powerplayers -- the athletes.
