Haryana-Punjab Farmers Announce March to Chandigarh, Hundreds in Custody
Floods in many parts of North India have caused heavy losses to the farmers. It includes crop damages faced by farmers in Punjab and Haryana. The farmers suffering from this natural calamity had announced to march to Chandigarh on Tuesday, August 22, demanding proper compensation for the losses. Since then, the Chandigarh administration and the government have wanted to stop this march. The administration detained hundreds of farmers, and in many places, there were scuffles between the farmers and the police. There is news of a farmer's death in a police lathicharge.
