'On the occasion of the International Women's Day, we are revisiting a series of paintings on the plight of Kashmiri women.'
Ever since the partition of India, Kashmiri women have been the worst victims of both, the geopolitical dispute and the army led violence. Although the vulnerability of Kashmiri women does get attention by the patriarchal media spectacle, their struggle for self-reliance and resistance against State oppression since the inception of this "dispute", is barely talked about.
From pellet violence to the death of 7 civilians in army conflict, keeping this recent scenario in mind, I have tried to portray the resisting women of Kashmir in this series of paintings.
