Fifty-year-old Md Qasim was lynched to death by a frenzied mob on June 18 evening at Bajhera Khurd village in Hapur district over rumours of cow slaughter. Another elderly man, 67-year-old Samiuddin, was critically injured by the self-proclaimed ‘gau rakshaks’ (cow vigilantes).
