Kisan Long March- The 4th One in Past 5 Years, as Demands Remain Unfulfilled
Thousands of farmers under the leadership of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) are walking from Akole to Loni in Maharashtra - a distance of around 60 km. Their demands are the same - land ownership to peasants, remunerative prices for crops, adequate compensation for crop damage due to adverse weather conditions, pension etc. This is the fourth time since 2018 that the farmers have organised a long march. They allege that each time they were sent back with hollow assurances. NewsClick spoke with Ashok Dhawale, AIKS president, who narrated how the government betrayed the farmers each time. But, the farmers have greater resolve today and are determined to get their demands fulfilled, he says.
