Manipur: 50 Days of Internet Shutdown
The complete statewide shutdown of the internet in violence-hit Manipur has crossed the 50-day mark. This has impacted every section of society and even hampered the ability of central security forces to reach trouble spots. One thing that all Manipur residents want is an end to the ban. Five petitions, clubbed together, are being heard by the Manipur High Court. These allege that the shutdown is illegal and the state government has violated the directions of the Supreme Court issued after the Anuradha Bhasin case.
