‘These Barricades Can Stop Our Bodies, Not Our Voices’ – Trade Unions Protest Metro Fare Hike
With the metro fares increasing for the second time this year, more than 10 trade unions of Delhi came together to protest against the hike. The leaders of the union had hoped to make their voices heard but were immediately barred from entering the Ministry of Urban Development. The number of police personnel deployed was more than the protesters. The agitators were forced to protest inside a small enclosure of barricades. Evidently agitated with the Center as well as the state government, they claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party has not been working to relieve the people of this burden and are staging protests for show.
