WB: DYFI Launches Insaaf Yatra to Demand Right to Work and Education
Meenakshi Mukhopadhyay, DYFI (Democratic Youth Federation of India) state secretary, said that the organisation will launch the Insaaf Yatra to hold the Central and state governments accountable for the issues of unemployed youth.
The yatra will go from Cooch Behar to Kolkata, Mukhopadhyay told People's Reporter.
"People get imprisoned under the guise of caste and religion as soon as issues regarding unemployment arise. Violence spreads like a poison in the psyche. A fictitious enemy sets up the curriculum and division. Sukanta, Nazrul, and Rabindranath were omitted from the text. Meanwhile, the cost of essential medications, cooking gas, fuel, rice, beans, and petrol is rising."
Bedabrata Ghosh, DYFI leader from Jalpaiguri district, said the organisation will take to the streets for two months starting November 3.
To prepare for the Insaaf Yatra, meetings are being held in Nagarakata, Dinhata, Panshkura, Maina, Uluberia and Kolkata.
At a meeting in Nagrakata, DYFI leaders said that the government of thieves is running the state, and as a result, the poor people are suffering. The leaders raised the issues of MGNREGA workers not getting their wages, tea workers being denied fair wages, the corruption of government ministers, and the state of unemployment among youth. They also talked about how the Central agencies are playing chor-police with the thieves in the state government.
Starting from North Bengal, the yatra will commence at the Brigade Parade Ground of Kolkata. After starting in Cooch Behar on November 3, the yatra will reach Jalpaiguri on November 5 after crossing Alipurduar on November 4. It is scheduled to reach Siliguri in the Darjeeling district on November 6. The brigade rally will be held on January 7.
DYFI leaders said that the two central investigation agencies, ED and CBI, are playing thief-police with the thieves. The campaign will continue at all booths in all blocks and districts across the state. Youth will demand employment.
