Haryana: Fraudulent Bajra Claims Unearthed in Hisar; 2,300 Fake Tillers Removed from Govt Portal

New Delhi: In a shocking revelation, the district administration of Hisar has uncovered a major scam involving approximately 2,300 individuals who falsely claimed to be residents of Hisar and registered Bajra crops on around 60,000 acres through the Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB) portal. According to The Tribune, the scam aimed at exploiting the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana (BBY) of the Haryana Government for undue benefits.
The district authorities promptly took action by removing the names of these fraudulently registered "farmers" from the MFMB portal. The BBY initiative by the state government offers relief at a rate of Rs 250 to Rs 300 per acre to registered Bajra farmers on the MFMB portal.
A joint team, comprising members from the Central Institute for Cotton Research, Sirsa, the Revenue Department, and the Agriculture Department, conducted an inquiry and identified 2,300 individuals from Nuh, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Palwal districts who falsely registered themselves as tillers on nearly 60,000 acres in Hisar.
The fraudulent modus operandi involved uploading Parivar Pehchan Patra's phone numbers and bank account details on the MFMB portal, falsely claiming to be tillers of land owned by other farmers. When the government disburses benefits under the BBY, it is directed to those registered on the MFMB portal as tillers, bypassing the actual landowners or tillers.
Dr Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Hisar, told The Tribune, "We have removed and delinked the names of all persons who were not found to be actual tillers or landowners of fields in Hisar.
Now, these persons will not receive any benefits from the government scheme." He emphasised that this case constitutes fraud, and affected farmers, whose crops were falsely claimed by individuals from other districts, have the option to pursue criminal charges with the police.
This revelation exposes the need for stricter verification processes to prevent such fraudulent activities and ensure the rightful distribution of government benefits to genuine farmers.
